Coldwater Fall Fair Parade
Friday, September 23, 2022 at 1:00 p.m.
Coordinator: Judith Cox (705-305-1086)
For the past two years, we have not had a parade! Let’s all participate in this year’s Fall Fair Parade and make it the biggest and best parade ever!!
We encourage you to decorate your bicycle or float reflecting this year’s theme: “Christmas in September". Keep in mind that this is not a Santa Claus Parade. Think of what is available in the fall for decorations (leaves, gourds, pumpkins, tomatoes, garden vegetables, etc.) and use them to decorate your "Christmas tree" or to make garlands, wreaths or to dress up. Think country Christmas, pioneers, homemade items, decorations, gifts and costumes from the past!
Participants should arrive at the Coldwater Public School between 12:00 noon and 12:30 p.m. to be ready for the parade to start at 1:00 p.m. sharp!
Please confirm your participation with Parade Coordinator, Judith Cox.
Parade helpers are always welcome. Call Judith Cox if you are able to help (705-305-1086).

Saturday at 11:00 a.m. -12:00 noon (upstairs in arena)
Find us upstairs at the Coldwater arena on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. to see the excitement we have in store for you! There will be lots of fun for all ages, including easy science experiments you can try at home, and we'll even show you some beginner's magic tricks followed by teaching you the 'magic' secrets. You can even try your hand at the magic tricks and then you can have your own magic show at home! Also for the young ones, come upstairs and make slime to take home. So if you love magic, enjoy science, and like to have fun, be at this event and you will be sure to enjoy yourself!! Hope to see you all there during the Fair this year where we look forward to having fun with you all!

Coordinator: JoAnn Warren (705-686-3157)
Friday at 9:00 a.m. (at Coldwater Public School)
Children and bicycles are invited to participate in the Parade and both can be in costume, remembering the theme "Christmas in September"

The bicycles are to be at Coldwater Public School entrance on Gray Street by 9:00 a.m. on Friday for judging. All decorated bicycles and their riders are encouraged to participate in the parade. The parade starts at 1:00 p.m. sharp in front of Coldwater Public School (be there by 12:30 p.m.) and ends at the Coldwater Fairgrounds (beside the pavilion). President's Message
On behalf of the Coldwater & District Agricultural Society, I would like to welcome everyone back to the Coldwater Fall Fair! After not being able to host the annual fair for the last couple years the executive, board members and volunteers wish to invite everyone to attend, enter and/or participate in our community's celebration of agricultural heritage, talent and future.
The 2022 Coldwater Fall Fair will be held from September 23rd - 25th and if you look through the schedule of events and prize book, you will see that the executive and class coordinators have once again prepared for a fun, exciting and entertaining weekend.
This year’s theme is “Christmas in September" and is sure to provide interesting entries in our many classes following the theme.
Finally, I would like to thank the countless volunteers, class coordinators and board members for their year after year dedication to pulling off a successful event as well as to all attendees for continuing to show your support by bringing your family and friends out to the fair each year.
Thank you,
Matt Murray
President
Coldwater & District Agricultural Society
Class 210 - Ambassador Program
Coordinator: Amanda Murray (705-323-3254)
The Coldwater Fall Fair Ambassador program is a leadership opportunity for rural youth in and around the Coldwater area. This year our initial program will be held on Sunday, September 18th, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. upstairs at the Coldwater Arena. Being an Ambassador is one of the most rewarding leadership opportunities for rural youth and this program will work to further the opportunities for our local students.
Each year the Ambassador embarks on a journey of furthering their life skills, including public speaking and sharing agricultural knowledge at various events around Coldwater. This program brings youth and their insights onto our Coldwater Fall Fair board.
Each contestant participating in the program on Sunday, September 18th, 2022, will experience and participate in workshops from qualified speakers as well as the interview process, speech and impromptu questions that makes up the competition portion of the program, culminating in the awarding of the 2022/2023 Coldwater Fall Fair Ambassador.
After the Ambassador has been chosen, they have specific rules and expectations that must be met throughout the 2022/2023 year, in order to be successful and be awarded the bursary to go towards education. Some examples of the expectations for the year include attending workshops for District 5, attending the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies Convention in February, participating in Coldwater events such as the Lions Club Duck Race, the Santa Claus Parade and so on. At the end of their reign (September 2023), they will pass on their title, and support the next year's Ambassador on their journey.
Applications, frequently asked questions, etc. can all be found on the Coldwater Fair Board website. There is a Senior Ambassador Program (ages 17 to 24) and Junior Ambassador Program (ages 12 to 15). All applications and questions can be forwarded to amandascott3@gmail.com or coldwaterfallfair@gmail.com.

Class Descriptions - Morning Classes
Best Groomed
This class is intended to encourage all exhibitors to take the utmost effort and care to present their horse/pony at the Fair in a clean and properly groomed manner. Judge is to use their discretion in deciding the winner of this class. The judge will be permitted to touch the mane, tail, body and possibly lift feet if required to assist in placing.
Toy Pick Up
Rider will ride down to a barrel and pick a toy up off the top of the barrel and carry the toy back over the finish line while mounted. You may take your time choosing specific toy you like, but you may only pick one. The rider gets to keep his chosen toy. However, this is a timed event. If the rider drops the toy there is a 5 second penalty. The fastest time wins.
Ball Race
Carry a ball while riding to a barrel with a bucket on top at end of the ring. Drop ball into the bucket on the top of the barrel and ride back. Riders are timed and placed accordingly. Ball must stay in bucket or there is a 5 second penalty. The fastest time wins.
Sack Race Riders ride down to a sack on the ground in front of a handler. The rider is to dismount, get in a sack and hop back to the finish line while leaving their horse/pony with the handler. First one to cross the finish line in their sack wins.
Phonebook Race
Riders will be given a page number before they start. The rider must then ride down to a barrel with a phone book on top at the end of the ring. They must remove the page number given and ride back. This is a timed event. Catalogue and pictures may be substituted.
Costume Class
Open class to anyone of any age. You dress yourself and your horse in a costume of choice. Theme is "Christmas in September", Future Judged on originality, level of difficulty, participation of horse and rider and audience reaction.
Class Description - Speed Show
Keyhole
Riders are to ride to the end of ring and turn their horse around within a space marked on the ground without touching the marked area or going outside of marked area and ride back. Touching the marked area or going outside the marked area will be a “no time”. This is a timed event.
Poles
Riders compete in a slalom pattern of six poles. Knocked poles are a 5 second penalty. Off pattern results in “no time”. This is a timed event.
Flag
Rider will ride to the first barrel and pick up the flag, then carry the flag around the second barrel in a figure 8 pattern. The rider then places the flag back in the first barrel before continuing back through the timer. The fastest completed time without missing a pickup or drop off wins. Missing of flag is no time. Knock of barrel is a “no time”.
Bottle Race
Riders will ride down to a barrel at the end of the arena. The riders must pick up a bottle off the top of the barrel as they go around it, then ride back through the timers with a bottle in their hand. A dropped bottle, knocked barrel or off pattern will result in a "no time".
Barrels
Riders must complete a proper clover leaf pattern around three barrels. The fastest time wins. A knocked barrel is a 5 second penalty. Off pattern is a “no time”.
